my president part 3

so my criteria came down to four:
1. conviction
2. character
3. capability
4. credentials

i realized all have equal weights so i proceeded to rate my candidates and did the math. gibo and gordon tied for prex.

i also checked out:
1. youtube episodes of their interviews
3. the official websites of the 3 presidentiables

then it became clear who i should vote for.

so there, i finally have a president. however tedious my process may have seemed, i am in the end, happy and at peace with my decision.

today, i shaded oval # 8. for gibo teodoro.

my president part 2

since i obviously do not have a clear choice until now, here's what i'm going to do.

1. list down all the attributes i want in a president
2. rate the 3 candidates against these attributes
3. weigh attributes from the most important to the least important
4. multiply the rating against the ranking to get the weighted scores
5. stare at the result and mull over it. then set it aside.

1. google feverishly on their background and credentials
2. check their platform
3. review their stand on burning national issues

sleep. then check if the math and the research satisfy my conscience and my conviction. then, vote.

my president

i have 3 presidential candidates on my list: gordon, gibo, noynoy.

i like noynoy because of the purity of his intentions. i believe him when he says he will put an end to corruption. but i am disappointed by his zero performance in the senate and congress. i don't like his slacker attitude. he strikes me as a wimp and i'm not sure if he can withstand the enormous task of governing a nation.

i like gibo because of his legendary brilliance and character. he is the only one i know who did not resort to mudslinging throughout the campaign. i am impressed by his personality and i got even more impressed when i read the quiet fortitude he displayed even when he was in college. he is focused on the issues and maybe he will be the greatest president we can ever have. but he is gma's boy toy by virtue of his being an admin candidate. and i can't help but think that when gibo gets elected, gma will go scot-free from all the corruption issues against her. if gma's party gets the executive positions, the senate and the congress, it won't be long before she gets to be prime minister (why would she rush midnight appointments in the judiciary if she does not have an agenda of extending her power?).

i like gordon. he was in fact, my original choice because of his credentials. but he's a dick and worse, he relishes being one. what does that say about his character?

it's 3 days before the elections and i still do not have a presidential candidate yet. my husband already has a firm decision and is in fact actively promoting his candidate on facebook. but i think i made it clear that voting for a president is NOT a conjugal decision. fortunately, my husband is wise enough to acknowledge that in this case, we are two separate individuals. and so, while he patiently tells me why he thinks his candidate should win, he does so with such guarded passion. and while i know he wants to contradict my arguments about politics, he instead, opts to listen.

respect. it's a sacred word in a relationship. i'm glad i married this guy.
